Gerald R. Scarry
Gerald R Scarry, 74, of Connellsville died Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at Latrobe Hospital.
He was born August 15, 1937 in Leisenring, Pa., a son of the late Fred and Elsie (Donovan) Scarry.
Gerald was a member of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church and a graduate from Immaculate Conception High School in 1955.
He was an active and lifetime member of the New Haven Hose Volunteer Fire Company and a lifetime member of the Connellsville Elks and Knights of Columbus Council 948. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Loyal Order of Moose, the American Legion, the Legion Club, Western Pennsylvania Fireman’s Association, Connellsville Historical Society, Connellsville Yough River Trail as well as other Connellsville civic organizations.
Gerald was the founder of Scarry Insurance and Tax Services. Prior to Scarry Insurance and Tax Services, he worked for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company.
He enjoyed cooking and spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren.
Gerald is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marlene (Falco) Scarry, three sons:Sean of Scottdale, Jeff and Kris of Maryland and Michael of Connellsville and a brother Joseph of San Louis Obispo, California; 4 grandchildren: Meghan, Benjamin, Aaron and Luke Scarry and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Gerald was predeceased by brothers Fred and Basil Scarry and sisters Theresa (Scarry) Reese and Maree (Scarry) Reed.
Friends will be received in the VITO C. MARTUCCI FUNERAL HOME, 123 S. 1st St., West Side, Connellsville (724-628-9033) today (Thursday) from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
A blessing service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home followed by a funeral mass at 1 p.m. in Immaculate Conception Church with Fr. Dennis Bogusz as celebrant.
Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Members of New Haven Hose Fire Dept. will conduct a ritual at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, Gerald’s family has requested donations to be made to Conn Area Catholic School, 611 E. Crawford Avenue, Connellsville PA 15425.
