Man charged for alleged concocted story
An Eighty Four man is facing multiple charges after police allege he fabricated a story about another man threatening to shoot him in an attempt to get the other man in trouble.
Southwest Regional police said Raymond Rush, 42, of 399 Ridge Road was charged before Magisterial District Judge Curtis Thompson with reporting false alarms to agencies of public safety, providing false reports to law enforcement and unsworn falsification to law enforcement for concocting a story about Stephen Durila of Millsboro.
Police said the charges were filed after Rush reported to Washington County 911 on Oct. 11. that Durila threatened to cut his throat, and also threatened to shoot him in the head and reached for a gun while at a location in Bentleyville.
Rush told police that Durila then pursued him through Bentleyville as Rush tried to elude him, police said.
Investigators said that as they probed the alleged incident, they learned through video evidence and other information that Rush fabricated most of the story.
Police said when they confronted Rush with the evidence, he admitted to lying to investigators and to 911 dispatchers in an attempt to get Durila into trouble because of some past conflicts.
Rush will face a preliminary hearing at a later date before Thompson.
