William Joseph ‘Hank’ Kurnot
William Joseph ‘Hank’ Kurnot, 79, of Masontown, Pa., passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Mount Macrina Manor, Uniontown.
He was born in Palmer, Pa., on February 17, 1932 the son of the late William Kurnot Sr. and Anna (Shavel) Kurnot.
‘Hank’ graduated from German Township High School, served in U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and retired from the U.S. Department of Justice Bureau of Prisons.
He was a past and faithful member of St. Albert’s Church and the Palmer Pioneers.
He was also a member of American Legion Post 423, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4584, the Knights of Columbus 4261, and the Pals Club all in Masontown and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Irwin, Pa.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Anna Mae (Leveno) Kurnot; brothers and sisters: Mary Polesnek, Veronica Kotes, John Kurnot and Joseph Kurnot; and daughter-in-law, Teresa LaMonica Kurnot.
He is survived by children: Lynette Kurnot of Masontown, Pa., William Kurnot, Millwood, W.Va.; grandchildren: Anthony Kurnot, Adrienne Kurnot, Josh Kurnot, Anna Kurnot; brothers and sisters: Anna Rose Polesnek, M i c h a e l Kurnot, Patricia Kuba; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends will be received in the JOHN S. MAYKUTH JR. FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church and 7 River Avenue, Masontown, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 until 9:30 a.m. when a Prayer Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in All Saints Church, Masontown, with Rev. Father John M. Butler as Celebrant.
Interment follows at Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown.
Military Services will be accorded at the grave site by the Masontown VFW Post 4584 and American Legion Post 423.
Parish Wake Service will be held in the Funeral Home today at 3 p.m.
Knights of Columbus Honor Guard from 6 to 7 p.m.
