A Dunbar Township man is facing several charges after police allege he held a gun to his wife’s head and choked her at their home Friday.

State police Trooper Nathan R. Swink said Walter Leapline, 62, of 123 Martin Farm Road was charged before Magisterial District Judge Joseph M. George Jr. with terroristic threats and simple assault following the incident.

Swink said the incident occurred around 5 p.m. when Leapline and his wife, whom police did not identify by name, got into an argument. During the fight, police said Leapline choked his wife and also held a rifle to her head on two occasions.

Police noted that Leapline denied any use of a gun during the altercation.

It was not clear what sparked the altercation.

Leapline was placed in Fayette County Prison on $5,000 straight cash bond following his arraignment.

A preliminary hearing will be held at a later date before Magisterial District Judge Dwight K. Shaner.
