The state Department of Transportation unveiled a new highway safety corridor in South Union Township today.
Jay Ofsanik, PennDOT District 12 spokesman, said the corridor is located on New Salem Road and is posted by several new signs warning motorists that they are traveling in an area of increased traffic enforcement.
According to Ofsanik, officers will use the corridor to target unsafe drivers, with additional fines and penalties assessed for unsafe driving.
He said that representatives from PennDOT and the state police officially opened the corridor at 10:30 a.m.
