‘Dick’ Truxel

Richard W. ‘Dick’ Truxel,72 died on Tuesday October 4, 2011 at his home in Hidden Valley, Pa.

Formerly of Connellsville, Dick led a wonderful life full of friends and family. Lovingly known as ‘Big Daddy’, Dick’s personality matched his nickname. He was a wonderful, kind man with a great sense of humor and will be missed by all. Whether you needed a shoulder to cry on or a joke to cheer you up, you could always count on Dick.

Dick was born in Mount Pleasant on May 21, 1939 to parents Paul E. ‘Pap’ and Emily (Mullin) Truxel.

Dick was fortunate to meet the love of his life and partner of 49 years, Linda (Wible) Truxel, before graduating from Ramsay High School. He then attended Waynesburg University and graduated from Penn State University with the class of 1962.

Dick was past president of the Connellsville Area School Board, served in the Army and was a life long member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. He was also a member of the Connellsville Elks No. 503, the Nittany Lion Club and Uniontown Kiwanis Club. Prior to his retirement he was Vice President and Regional Manager of Cornerstone Family Service.

In addition to his wife, Dick is survived by his children: Richard, Jr. and his wife Karen of Lancaster, Pa., Julie Capuzzi and her husband Ed of Uniontown, Molly Boras and her husband Mike of Allison Park, Pa. and Megan Beaufait and her husband Eric of Easton, Md.

Dick was blessed with five grandchildren: Dante Capuzzi, Sophie and Maddie Boras and Charlie Richard and Maggie Beaufait. Dick is also survived by his brother, John B. Truxel of Connellsville, brother Phillip M. Truxel of Harvey Cedars, N.J., sister, Patricia E. Tinker and her husband Alex of Connellsville and brother William H. Freed of Foley, Alabama and sisters-in-law Joni Truxel of Connellsville and Ann Dalton of Daytona Beach, Fla. and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

In addition to his parents Dick was preceded in death by his step-mother Catherine, brother Paul Truxel, sisters-in-law Lois Truxel and Diane Freed and brother-in-law Don Dalton.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Dick’s life to be held at the Conference Center at The Hidden Valley Resort on Saturday, October 8 at 11:00 a.m., with lunch to follow.
