Connellsville board introduces agenda for strategic meetings
CONNELLSVILLE — To aid discussions tied to the formulation of a long-range plan for the Connellsville Area School District, the recently formed Strategic Feasibility Committee will follow a tentative agenda, according to Monday discussions by the school directors.
The committee, comprised of the nine directors and the two candidates who will likely join the board in December, will meet Wednesday at 6 p.m. to further discuss previous studies provided by Mike Omatick, director of building and grounds, and review past feasibility studies prepared for the district by various firms.
Feasibility studies are required by the state Department of Education (PDE) prior to any renovation or new construction project and analyze the physical condition of current buildings, capacity as it relates to the educational program, costs to upgrade and benefits of the options.
The board is awaiting the completion of a study completed by Rohrbaugh, Crabtree and Associates of Mechanicsburg. The firm designed the renovation and new construction for the high school now under way.
Omatick said that the new study is completed and requested the board meet in special session before the end of the month to review it.
The board agreed to consider several dates, including Oct. 18, 19, 26 and 27.
The board is additionally poised to take action in the following business at its regular Wednesday meeting:
