Produce to People distribution Thursday

1 min read

Produce to People, a food distribution in Fayette County, sponsored by the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and organized by the Rev. Adam Lawson of Fresh Fire Church in Uniontown will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at the Fayette County Fairgrounds in Dunbar Township.

Gates to the fairgrounds will open at 8:30a.m. when registration begins.

There is no income verification required or proof of residency, however, there are a few demographic questions that are asked of each recipient. Each person coming should bring a box, container or laundry basket to carry their food.

The program began locally in May and continues to grow. At last month’s distribution, the program served 565 families and 1,354 people. There is always plenty of food to go around but recipients are encouraged to come early.

Each household will receive about 50 to 65 pounds of food.

Items in the past have included, fresh chicken, canned vegetables, yogurt, fresh vegetables and fruits, juice, potatoes and watermelon. For more information about the distribution or to become a volunteer, contact Fresh Fire Church at 724-437-9869 or email pastor4freshfire@yahoo.com.
