Man waives assault charges to court

A Normalville man accused assaulting another man at a location in Springfield Township in July waived all charges against him to court Thursday.

State police Trooper Andrew Bobanic said Aaron Kendall Schrock, 23, of 148 Buttermilk Hollow Road was charged before Magisterial District Judge Ronald J. Haggerty Jr. with aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct.

Schrock waived all charges against him to Fayette County Court during a preliminary hearing Thursday afternoon before Haggerty.

Bobanic said the charges were filed after Schrock brutally attacked Cory Adam Goodwin, 19, also of Normalville, at a residence on Springfield Pike on July 30.

Bobanic said the altercation between Schrock and Goodwin occurred when the men were drinking on the porch of a residence.

Goodwin told police that he continually asked Schrock to close the door to the residence as Schrock came and went from inside the home to keep insects from getting into the house.

Bobanic said that at one point when Schrock left the door open, Goodwin got up to close the door and Schrock punched him in the face.

Schrock then began to pummel Goodwin in the face and Goodwin told investigators that he was unable to escape Schrock’s blows or defend himself, Bobanic said.

Goodwin told police that he could “feel his face bones breaking,” before Schrock’s girlfriend intervened, Bobanic said.

Bobanic said that Goodwin, who was beaten until he was unconscious, was taken to Highland Hospital in Connellsville for treatment and later moved to Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh for surgery on his face.

Goodwin suffered multiple facial fractures from the attack.

Schrock remains free after posting bond.
