Supervisors approve local services tax
CONNELLSVILLE TWP. — Those working within the township will pay an extra $52 to the municipality beginning in January, following Thursday’s action by supervisors.
The Local Services Tax (LST) will only impact those who work in the township and making less than $12,000 per year.
Leah Brothers, township secretary, said that CENTAX, the township’s tax collection agency, has yet to determine revenue amounts from the new tax.
In other financial matters, Brothers reported the state fund amounts increased by several thousand dollars which will help defray township and volunteer fire department costs.
According to Brothers, the Foreign Fire allocation rose by nearly $4,000 to $20,306 with state pension funds increasing to $13,369 and state liquid fuel funds to increase to $76,473.
The Foreign Fire funds go directly to the Connellsville Township Volunteer Fire Department.
“It was good news all around,” said Brothers.
