John G. ‘Guzda’ Mikulic

John G. ‘Guzda’ Mikulic, 85, of LaBelle, Pa. passed away on Monday, October 17, 2011 in the Uniontown Hospital.

He was born on December 3, 1925 in Woodside, Pa., Son of the late John and Anna (Brado) Mikulic.

John was a former member of St. James R.C. Church of Labelle, Pa. and a Veteran of WWII serving with The United States Navy.

He was employed at Maplecreek Coal Mine and was a member of The UMWA Local 1248; he was also a member of Luzerne Township Volunteer Fire Department.

John was preceded in death by his wife: Helen (Racheck) Mikulic.

John is survived by his two sisters: Eleanor Mikulic of LaBelle, Pa. and Dolores Havanets and husband Leonard ‘Whitey’ of Tower Hill No. 2, Pa.; Special cousins: Rose and Joe Fantini of LaBelle, Pa.; Sister-in-law: Bertha Rudolph of Cleveland, Ohio.

He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins

Friends will be received in THE SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME 135 Park Street Brownsville, PA on Wednesday from 2 to 6 p.m. and on Thursday where a blessing service will be held at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Fr. James Petrovsky officiating.

Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park where full military honors will be accorded by American Legion Posts 295, 838 and 940.

A wake service will be held on Wednesday evening at 5:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial donations be made to The Luzerne Township Fire Department.
