Rowena Jane Rhodes
Rowena Jane Rhodes, age 87 of Perryopolis, Pa. passed away Monday, October 17, 2011 at home.
She was born June 26, 1924 at Uniontown, Pa., the daughter of the late Charles and Edith VanSwearingen Rankin.
She was a longtime member of the Perryopolis United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Gladys V. Rankin, her twin brother Robert Rankin and a brother John L. Rankin.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert; three daughters: Cheryl Cope and husband Kevin of Westfield, Pa., Susan Backos and husband Robert of Fayette City, Pa. and Roberta Stark and husband William Joseph Stark of Perryopolis, Pa.
She was a loving grandmother to seven: Robert Jason Cope and wife Shami of Gratz, Pa., James Cope and wife Jen of Atlanta, Georgia, Amanda Rhee and husband Bernie of Towson, Maryland, Stacie Klocek and husband Tim of South Park, Pa., Kimberly McMullen and husband Scott of Moon Township, Pa., Eric Backos and wife Leslie of Fayette City, Pa. and Ryan Backos of Morgantown, W.Va. as well as a great grandmother to seven: Christopher, Cody and Kayla Cope, Joseph Rhee, James Cope, Cassandra and Nathaniel Klocek and her constant loving companion, Moochie the cat.
Friends will be received in the BLAIR – LOWTHER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 305 Rear Independence Street, Perryopolis, Pa. on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday until 11 a.m., the hour of service. Pastor David Means will officiate.
Interment will be in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, PA 15401.
