Town hall to address underage drinking scheduled

1 min read

A town hall meeting to discuss the impact underage drinking has on the community will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Ivory Ballroom on Peter Street in Uniontown.

Panelist will include representatives from the Fayette County Drug & Alcohol Commission (FCDAC), Fayette County Juvenile Probation, Uniontown and state police, the state Liquor Enforcement division and the Fayette County Crime Victims’ Center.

Gabby Cellurale and her parents also will speak during the meeting. Cellurale was one of six teenagers involved in an alcohol-related crash on Sept. 10 in Farmington that killed Zack Nelson, 17, of Chalk Hill.

The FCDAC and state Rep. Tim Mahoney, D-South Union Township, are partnering to hold the town hall meeting to address underage drinking and the responsible use of alcohol in Fayette County. The town hall will follow an event held earlier in the day for 11th grade students in Fayette County.

The FCDAC said the public forum is a way to bring many people to the table to discuss what can be done to combat underage drinking.
