Police charge teen in bicycle robbery
Uniontown police said they have filed multiple charges, including a felony count of robbery, against a 14-year-old Uniontown boy accused of robbing a 13-year-old boy of his bicycle.
Officer Jason Fidazzo said the 14-year-old was charged in Fayette County Juvenile Court with robbery, theft and receiving stolen property as a result of the incident that occurred Monday afternoon.
Fidazzo said that the 13-year-old was riding his bicycle, a red BMX, near the intersection of Wayne Street and Madison Avenue shortly before 3 p.m. when the suspect approached him and demanded his bicycle.
Fidazzo said the boy at first told the suspect that the bicycle was his but the suspect allegedly told the 13-year-old that he didn’t care who the bike belonged to and that he was taking it.
Fidazzo said the older child then forced the other boy from the bicycle and rode away from the scene.
Police searched the area for the teen and the bicycle but were unable to locate them.
