Man accused in daughter’s death behind bars
A Fayette County judge granted a motion this week to revoke the bail for a Point Marion father accused in the death of his 15-month-old daughter.
Robert Dodson, 56, was picked up on a bench warrant for failure to comply with pretrial services. He is charged with criminal homicide in the Jan. 6 death of his daughter, Madison Violet Dodson.
Dodson had been free on bond since June, but when he failed to register his new address and faced drunken driving and drug-related charges in West Virginia, Judge Steve P. Leskinen issued a warrant for him.
The warrant was returned on Oct. 20, and on Monday, Leskinen entered an order revoking Dodson’s $25,000 percentage bond.
The jurist ordered that Dodson remain in the county lockup.
Both Dodson and Tammy Bohon, 35, of Point Marion, the parents of Madison Dodson, are charged with criminal homicide and endangering the welfare of children. The child, a critical care case who was dependent upon a feeding tube, was found dead on a mattress in the couple’s home, state police alleged.
Authorities have said that the baby died of malnutrition and dehydration.
Earlier this year, Leskinen set bond for Robert Dodson and Bohon. Both were required to post $2,500, or 10 percent of the bond amount. Bohon remains free.
There is a preliminary hearing scheduled in the case for Nov. 18 before Magisterial District Judge Jesse J. Cramer. That initial hearing has been delayed several times, in part because of the voluminous medical records in the case.
