Virginia Garcia
Virginia Garcia, 94, a longtime resident of Point Marion, Pa., passed away quietly Thursday, October 27, 2011, in the Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
Born Nov. 23, 1916 in San Antonio, Texas, she was a daughter of the late Joe and Petra Inoxos Battencourt.
She was a member of the Morgantown Restoration Branch of Jesus Christ.
A loving mother and grandmother, she will long be remembered for her sweet and gentle spirit.
Surviving are four sons and their wives, Tony and Dorothy Garcia, Richard and Dolores Garcia, all of Point Marion; Nick and Jackie Garcia of Masontown, Pa.; and Ralph and Amy Garcia of Morgantown; two daughters, Florence Uphold and husband Larry of Morgantown, and Rosalie McDonnell of Las Cruces, New Mexico; fifteen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joe Battencourt of North Carolina and Tony Battencourt of Oklahoma and a number of friends and the staff from Point Manor Personal Care Home, who tenderly cared for her over the past several years.
Deceased are her husband Selso Garcia in 1973; two sons, Augustine and Frank Garcia; two brothers, Rufus and Erasmo ‘Duke’ Battencourt; and two sisters, Lena Valero and Tilly Wilson.
The family will receive friends in the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion, today (Friday) from 7 to 9 p.m., Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Sunday in the Morgantown Restoration Branch of Jesus Christ, Bakers Ridge Road, Morgantown, from 1 to 2:00 p.m., the hour of service with Elder Frank Dippel officiating. Interment follows in Evergreen Memorial Park, Point Marion.
