Police are continuing to search this afternoon for a Fayette County woman who escaped from custody around noon in Uniontown.

The woman, whose identity has not been released by police, allegedly assaulted a Fayette County Sheriff’s deputy outside the Fayette County Courthouse and then fled north on foot.

Officers pursued but lost sight of her as she headed toward North Gallatin Avenue.

A cadre of Uniontown police, state police and state constables have been scouring the area surrounding North Gallatin for her since.

Officials said the woman had been picked up Thursday morning on a bench warrant.

She is described as a barefoot white woman with blonde hair wearing a green dress.

Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts is asked to call police at 724-430-2929.
