WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Pennsylvania Alliance for Retired Americans (PARA) presented Congressman Mark S. Critz, D-Johnstown, with its Social Security and Medicare Hero Award for his advocacy on behalf of Pennsylvania’s seniors, the group said. Critz, a member of the Congressional Seniors Task Force, received the award from PARA President Jean Friday.

“Social Security and Medicare are the bedrock of retirement security for millions of our nation’s seniors, many of whom are facing increased financial hardships,” Critz said. “I’ve committed to protecting these benefits and I’m honored to receive this award from an organization that has been a consistent voice and advocate on behalf of seniors everywhere.”

The certificate reads, “In Recognition of His Outstanding Leadership & Support, The Pennsylvania Alliance for Retired Americans proudly presents on September 8, 2011 this Social Security & Medicare Hero Award to Congressman Mark Critz, United States Representative, Twelfth Pennsylvania District.”

Critz and Congressman Mike Doyle (PA-14) were the only members of the Pennsylvania Congressional delegation to be presented with the Hero Award.
