Helen K.Valusek, age 94 of Masontown, Pa., passed away on Friday, September 9, 2011 at Mount Macrina Manor, Uniontown, Pa.

She was born.on January 12, 1917 in Shoaf, Pa., daughter of the late Michael and Elizabeth (Lazur) Carafa.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceed in death by her husband, Joseph Valusek on December 5, 1990, seven brothers and sisters, Margaret Ruskiewicz, Mary Shortell, Anna Syrek, George Carafa, Michael Carafa, Andrew Carafa, and infant brother, Stephen Carafa.

Helen was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Leckrone, Pa., and member of St. Mary’s Rosary Society.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Dolores Brush and husband Richard Sr. of Sherman Conn.; and Monica Cegelka and husband Jack of East Hartland, Conn.; six grandchildren: Patricia Semple of New Jersey, Richard Brush Jr. of Conn., Susan Brush of Arizona, Nicholas Cegelka, Gregory Cegelka and Michael Cegelka, all of Connecticut; a brother John Karafa and wife Mary Ellen of Masontown, Pa., and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the HAKY FUNERAL HOME, 515 North Main Street, Masontown, PA, today (Sunday) from 7-9 p.m.; and on Monday, September 12, until 10:30 a.m., when Prayers of Transfer will be said.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:15 a.m. in Our Lady of Perpetual Help, St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Leckrone, Pa. with Rev. Father John Bauer as Celebrant.

Interment will be held in Our Lady of Perpetual Help, St. Mary Cemetery, Leckrone.
