Sophie Theresa (Antoon) Faris
Sophie Theresa (Antoon) Faris, age 99, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2011 with her loving family at her side, after a brief stay at Mount Macrina Manor, Uniontown, Pa.
She was born on November 8, 1911 in Richwood, WV, daughter of the late John and Rose (Owen) Antoon.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Faris, Jr.; six brothers and sisters, Josephine Antoon, Edward Antoon, Louis Antoon, Theodore Antoon, Robert Antoon, and Amelia Jordan, three grandsons, Scott Michael Faris, Ronald Alan Faris, and Mark William Faris.
Left to cherish her memory are five children: John Faris and wife Goldie of Plantation, FL; James J. Faris and wife Raye of Uniontown, PA; Ronald Faris and wife Nancy of State College, PA; Arleen Wilson and husband Bob of Uniontown, PA; and Richard Faris and wife Valerie of Uniontown, PA; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; two sisters, Rose Marie Brower and Alice Lorraine Carbonara, both of Uniontown, PA; and a brother, Sam Antoon of Butler, PA.
Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Wednesday, September 14, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A Divine Liturgy will be held at a time to be announced on Thursday, September 15, 2011 in St. George Maronite Catholic Church, 6 Lebanon Terrace, Uniontown, PA, with her grandson, Chorbishop John Faris as Celebrant, and Rev. Father Nadim Helou as Concelebrant.
Service times for the Rosary and Ghinnaz Service of Incense will be announced.
Interment will follow at Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, PA.
