Charges dismissed in assault case

Uniontown police all charges were dismissed today against a man accused of assaulting his girlfriend when she tried to leave their residence with the couple’s children July 27.

Officer Frederick Kampert said Magisterial District Judge Joseph M. George Jr. issued a warrant for the arrest of Sheldon Lee Marks, 24, on charges of simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, harassment, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

He was captured by police in the days following the incident.

During a preliminary hearing this morning before Magisterial District Judge Michael M. Metros, the alleged victim, Lisa Hairston, 22, of Uniontown, refused to testify resulting in the dismissal.
