Joseph T. Hainzer, Sr.
Joseph T. Hainzer, Sr., 85, of Masontown, Pa., passed away September 14, 2011 at UPMC Presbyterian-Montefior Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born in Masontown, Pa. on January 2, 1926, the son of the late Frank, Sr. and Anna (Schernthaner) Hainzer.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and worked as coal miner for 41 year before retiring from Duquesne Light Warwick Mine, Greensboro.
He was a member of All Saints R.C. Church, Masontown, Pa. He was also a member of UMWA Local 6310, VFW Post 4584, where he served as member of the Military Honor Guard, American Legion 423 and Pal’s Club, Masontown, Pa.
Joe was known for his kind and gentle nature, patient and caring ways. He endured many hardships without complaining; that was the kind of man he was.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Joann Hainzer Rose and three infant sons, sister, Teresa Pekilidi Hainzer and brother, Frank Hainzer, Jr.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 62 years, Anna Mae Kelly Hainzer; children: Karen (John) Bail, Uniontown, Pa.; Joseph, Jr. (Paula) Hainzer, Carmichaels, Pa. and Sandy Hainzer of Uniontown, Pa.; grand-children: Donald (Nicole) Fenton, Joey T. Hainzer, Emily Hainzer and Rachel Bail; sisters: Sophie Sakal of Las Vegas, Nev., Rose Sakal of Manor, Pa. and Frances Flether of Westland, Michigan.
Friends will be received in the JOHN S. MAYKUTH, JR. FUNERAL HOME, Corner of Church and 7 River Avenue, Masontown, Pa, today (Friday) from 2 to 4 p.m., 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, September 17, 10 until noon, when a Prayer Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel with Father John M. Butler officiating.
Interment will follow in St. Agnes’ Cemetery, Masontown, Pa.
Parish Wake Service will be held in the Funeral home today at 3:00 p.m.
Military Rites will be accorded by Faith – Gray -McArdle VFW Post 4584 and American Legion Post 423 at the cemetery.
