Man to stand trial for attempted parking meter theft

A 46-year-old homeless man facing theft and related charges after he was caught by a Uniontown police officer trying to steal a parking meter in Uniontown June 27 will stand trial.

Uniontown police Capt. David J. Rutter said he was on his way home from the police station shortly after 1?a.m. when he spotted two men, later identified as Robert Lee Young, along with his nephew Richard D. Young, 28, of Uniontown trying to saw a parking meter from a pole on Church Street.

Following a preliminary hearing this afternoon for Robert Young, Magisterial District Judge Michael M. Metros held all charges against him to Fayette County Court.
