Two days after police captured a Dunbar Township woman who had been on the lam from officers for a nearly a week, investigators filed charges against the woman’s aunt for allegedly harboring her during her flight from officers.

State police Trooper Daniel Barnhart said Heather Lynn Beal, 28, of 161 Dunbar-Ohiopyle Road, Dunbar Township, was charged Friday before Magisterial District Judge Dwight K. Shaner with hindering apprehension or prosecution for hiding Marybeth Beal and her father, Thomas Jefferson Beal from police.

Following her capture Sept. 14, Marybeth Beal, 21, was charged before Magisterial District Judge Joseph M. George Jr. on aggravated assault and escape charges for allegedly running from a Fayette County Sheriff’s deputy as well as robbery and related charges for an alleged carjacking she committed after her escape from police.

The charges against Heather Beal were filed after police said they responded to her home in Dunbar Township Sept. 12 acting on a tip that Marybeth Beal and her father, who was wanted for a parole violation, were holed up at the residence.
