Financial consultant granted double in pay by Fayette County commissioners

1 min read

The financial consultant for the Fayette County controller’s office was granted a $20,000 increase for this year Thursday by the county commissioners, doubling the amount he is being paid by the county.

The action to approve the $20,000 increase for Susquehanna Group Advisers of Harrisburg was taken by Commissioners Vincent Zapotosky and Vincent A. Vicites. Commissioner Angela M. Zimmerlink voted against the motion.

Sam Lynch, a certified public accountant with the firm, has acted as the office’s adviser for several years. Following the vote, Zimmerlink said each and every year the commissioners are told that the services would be decreased, adding that the county initially hired the consultants to help come into compliance with newly implemented governmental accounting standards.
