William F. ‘Bill’ Majka
William F. ‘Bill’ Majka, age 95, of Star Junction, Pa., passed away Monday, September 19, 2011. He was born October 20, 1915 at Braddock, Pa., the son of the late Joseph and Catherine Trelka Majka.
He was a life-long member of Saint John’s Roman Catholic Church, St. Johns Holy Name Society, St. Johns Golden-Agers and the UMWA. Bill retired from the coal mines after 42 faithful years of service as a coal miner. Bill’s cheerful personality always made people smile! He will be remembered as a loving and devoted father to his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by two children: William J. Majka Jr. and wife Betty of Painesville, Ohio, Sharon Majka Thompson and husband Patrick of Perryopolis, Pa., two grand-daughters which he adored; Michelle Majka Clarke and husband Matt of Painesville, Ohio, Kristi Thompson Joseph and husband Rodney of Glassport, Pa., two great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly; Hannah and Jonathan Clarke both of Painesville, Ohio; one step-great granddaughter Bailey Joseph; two sisters and three brothers; Jenny Taylor and husband Robert of Ohio, Helen Wigfield of Maryland, Bruney Majka of Minnesota, Edward Majka and wife Dolores; Stanley Majka and wife Dorothy, both of Ohio.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Julia Majka, two sisters; Viola Samonsky, Eleanor Clay and one brother Matthew Majka.
Friends will be received in the BLAIR-LOWTHER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 305 Rear Independence Street, Perryopolis, PA, Friday, September 23, 2011 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 9 p.m. A prayer service will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 9:30 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Perryopolis, PA at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Father Bob Lubic celebrant.
Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery. A wake service will be held Friday evening in the funeral home.
