Most charges dismissed in alleged burglary

By Josh Krysak heraldstandard.Com 1 min read

Nearly all charges were dismissed earlier this month against two Fayette City men accused of breaking into the home of a recently deceased man and stealing an air conditioner, cash, an antique knife and alcohol.

Fayette City police Officer William Gardner said Douglas Lee Hamer, 50, of 9 Marion Villa and Francis Kenneth Demarco, 48, of 320 Main St. were each charged before Magisterial District Judge Joseph M. George Jr. with felony counts of burglary, criminal conspiracy to commit burglary, criminal trespassing, criminal conspiracy to commit trespassing and a summary count of criminal mischief.

During a preliminary hearing Sept. 2 before Magisterial District Judge Dwight K. Shaner, all felony charges against the men were dismissed and the summary charge was moved to a non-traffic citation to be paid in fines.
