Thelma Catherine Works
Thelma Catherine Works, of Lemont Furnace, Pa. went to be with the Lord, Saturday, September 24, 2011 at the age of 63. She was born June 11, 1948 in Gibbon Glade, Pa., the daughter of the late Melvin H. Shaffer and Thelma Matlick Shaffer.
She resided with her daughter, Ruthy Whyel and grand-children, Joey and Sarah.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, Thelma (Matlick) Shaffer and Melvin ‘Buck’ Shaffer; sister, Wilma Jean Sharp and brothers, Michael and Allen Shaffer.
She was a loving mother to daughter, Eileen Cummings and husband Ron of Uniontown, Pa.; son, James W. Works, Jr. and wife Cindy of Lancaster, Pa; son, Melvin Bernard Works and wife Renee of Smithfield, Pa. and daughter, Ruth Whyel and boyfriend Shawn of Lemont Furnace, Pa. She was a loving grandmother to 12 grand-children: Ron Jr., Jesse, Mike, Jessica Cummings, Samantha and husband Brian, Joey Madilia and Kristine Leopard, Autumn Works, ‘Mandy’ Law and Ray Goodwin; ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters: Nancy Myers and husband Pete Leanna Harvey and husband Bill and Alice Shaffer; brothers Melvin Shaffer and Charles Shaffer and wife Jenny; many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, Pa.
A service celebrating Thelma’s life will be held Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 11 a.m. at THE CHURCH OF GOD Route 51,Uniontown, PA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Thelma’s memory to Ruth Whyel, 102 Circle St., Uniontown, PA 15401.
