Anne E. MacLaughlin, age 83, of Uniontown, Pa. passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at her home.

She was born on November 17, 1927 in New York, the daughter of John Ackerman and Anne Davis Phillips Ackerman.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John R. MacLaughlin and a sister Marcia Higley.

Anne graduated from Morristown High School and Elmira College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She was a member of St. Peters Anglican Church. She was formerly employed as a Draftsman for Bell Industries Labs and was a former director of Goodwill Industries.

Anne was a former member of the altar guild, a member of Uniontown Country Club, Friends of the Library, State Theater Board, Goodwill Board and enjoyed playing bridge and doing needle point.

Anne is survived by one son, John R. MacLaughlin and wife Tiffany of Hopwood, Pa.; three daughters: Marcia J. Finnegan and husband Rev. Dennis A. Finnegan, Jr. of Downingtown, Pa., Carol M. Whyel and husband Scott Whyel of Farmington, Pa. and Nancy D. Turner of Virginia Beach, Va.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown PA. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 2, 2011 from Noon until 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday, October 3, 2011 in St. Peters Anglican Church, 60 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, Pa. from 10 until 11 a.m., the hour of service celebrating Anne’s life with Father John Cruikshank officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
