LHVB’s redesigned website exceeds expectations

MILL RUN – Public response to Laurel Highlands Visitors Bureau’s redesigned website has exceeded expectations.

“Website traffic has increased by 50 percent,” noted Andrea Cuda, chairwoman of the board of directors at the bureau’s annual dinner meeting Thursday at The Barn at Fallingwater.

The bureau, which promotes tourism in Fayette, Somerset and Westmoreland counties, launched the website changes in October 2010.

Statistics distributed at the dinner revealed that total vists to the website during some of the busiest months were 10,431 in June 2010, 12,336 in July 2010 and 10,349 in August 2010 before increasing to 23,301 in June 2011, 28,745 in July 2011 and 26,641 in August 2011. Page views jumped from 13,455 in June 2010, 15,712 in July 2010 and 13,365 in August 2010 to 128,195 in June 2011, 148,923 in July 2011, 130,173 in August 2011. The average length of visit went from about one minute, 30 seconds during summer 2010 to about five minutes in summer 2011.
