Uniontown police investigate after apparent gun battle
Uniontown police said they are investigating after an apparent gun battle on Searight Avenue Wednesday afternoon.
Police said the shooting occurred shortly after 4 p.m. near Pershing Court housing complex.
When officers arrived at the scene, no suspects were located, however police said it was readily apparent that a gun battle had occurred.
Police said they recovered shell casings for three different caliber guns at the scene, including three .380-caliber casings, 3 .357-caliber casings and 12 casings from an assault rifle.
Officers also found a car riddled with bullet holes parked in a lot on Searight Avenue, bullet holes in two metal fence posts on Searight and and several bullet holes in the side of a residence at 43 Searight Ave.
It appears that no one was injured as a result of the shootout.
Police said the weapons used in the shooting were turned in to police in the hours after the gun battle.
Capt. David J. Rutter said charges are pending against several suspects as police continue to piece together the incident.
