DEP launches online section about Earth Day

1 min read

HARRISBURG — The state Department of Environmental Protection has launched an interactive Earth Day section of its website offering information about Earth Day and environmental events around the state.

“Using today’s technology to inform the public about important environmental efforts is invaluable,” DEP Secretary Mike Krancer said. “Earth Day is a great opportunity for us to use that technology to engage and educate the people we serve.”

The webpage includes several new features, including the Earth Day proclamation from Gov. Tom Corbett; an interactive calendar searchable by county, where event planners can promote their activities; biographies of environmental professionals with information about environmental careers; and links to educational resources.

Earth Day will be marked Sunday, April 22, and this year’s theme is “Honoring Pennsylvania’s Environmental Public Servants.”
