The following are results from recent livestock auctions and crop sales held in the area.
Results for the Waynesburg Livestock Auction from April 12 were as follows:
Cattle
Stock cows: 52.50 to 108. Slaughter cows: Utility and commercial, 84 to 99; boner and boning utility, 60 to 91; cutter and boning utility, 48 to 84; canner and low cutter, 51 to 78. Bulls: Yield grade 1 1,500 to 2,000 pounds, 90 to 109; yield grade 2, 1,000 to 1,400 pounds, 78 to 102. Feeder steers: Medium and light, 1, 250 to 280 pounds, 100 to 204; 300 to 500 pounds, 100 to 186; 600 to 900 pounds, 90 to 138; heifers, medium and light 1, 300 to 500 pounds, 90 to 162; light 1, 400 to 650 pounds, 80 to 140; bulls medium and light, 1, 300 to 620 pounds, 80 to 188.
Calves
Veal, prime, 80 to 130; choice, 60 to 95; good, 40 to 55. Farm calves: No. 1 Holstein bulls, 90 to 120 pounds, few, 35 to 105; No. 2 Holstein bulls, 15 to 55; beef to to bull and heifers/head, 50 to 200.
Hogs
Barrows and gilts, 1 to 2, 210 to 255 pounds, 60 to 82; 2 to 3, 255 to 280 pounds, 40 to 81; sows 1 to 3, 300 to 500 pounds, 30 to 80. Feeder pigs, 1 to 3, 15 to 20 pounds, 10 to 21 per head; 1 to 3, 25 to 35 pounds, 15 to 34 per head.
Lambs
High choice, 80 to 100 pounds, 180 to 250; choice, 40 to 75 pounds, 80 to 203; feeder lambs, good, 85 to 190. Sheep, 25 to 90; fat sheep, 33 to 90. Goats, large, 65 to 200 per head; medium, 50 to 150 per head; small, 5 to 50 per head.
Results from the Eighty Four Livestock Auction, Eighty Four, from April 9 were:
Compared to last week’s sale, slaughter cows sold mostly 1 to 1.50 higher. Supply included 116 cows, eight bulls and 129 feeders. Prices per hundredweight.
Slaughter Steers: No test. Slaughter Holstein steers: Select 1 to 2 1,525 pounds, 93. Slaughter heifers: Select 1 to 2 1,135 pounds, 108.
Slaughter cows
Premium whites, 65 to 75 lean, 93.50 to 99 average dressing; breakers, 75 to 80 lean, 88 to 92 average dressing and 83 to 83.50 low dressing; boners, 80 to 85 lean, 81 to 87.50 average dressing and 79.50 to 80 low dressing; lean, 85 to 90 percent lean, 74.50 to 78.50 average dressing, 79.50 to 81 high dressing and 70 to 74 low dressing.
Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 1,175 to 2,105 pounds, 96 to 106.50. Yield grade 2 1,195 pounds, 91.
Feeder cattle
Steers: Medium and large 1 400 to 500 pounds, 157.50. Medium and large 2 600 to 700 pounds, 135. Heifers: Medium and large 1 300 to 500 pounds, 137.50 to 150; 500 to 700 pounds, 126 to 137.50.
