Stephen Petruska, Sr.
Stephen Petruska, Sr., age 90 of Uniontown, Pa. passed away Sunday morning April 22, 2012 in the Life Care of Monroeville, Pa.
Born March 10, 1922 in Lambert, Pa., he was the son of the late Michael Petruska and Anna Varhol Petruska.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Anna Petruska and Mary Petruska and brothers, Joseph, John, Michael and George and brother-in-law Leonard Medvitz.
Stephen was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church. He was a life member of the Lions Club where he received 40 years perfect attendance and the Melvin Jones Fellow Award. He was a member of the AMVETS Post 103, Hopwood and was a United States Veteran serving in the Army during World War II.
He was a Pirohi worker at St. John Byzantine Church for many years. Stephen was a 1939 graduate of Uniontown High School. He also worked at Mt. Macrina Motherhouse for many years. He was a Home Delivery Milk Man for 40 years, one of the last milk men in our area!
Stephen is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Theresa Adamik Petruska; loving children: Stephen Petruska, Jr. of Uniontown, Stephanie Boes and husband Terry of Castle Shannon, Pa. and his granddaughter whom he adored Makayla Boes; sisters: Sister Celastine Petruska of Mt. Macrina, Dorothy Medvitz of Uniontown and William Petruska and wife Mary Ann of Uniontown; sisters-in-law Anna Petruska and Mary Bandzuch; several loving nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Friends will be received in the KEZMARSKY FUNERAL HOME, 71 Pennsylvania Ave., Uniontown today (Wednesday) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday morning until 10 a.m. when a Blessing Service will be held followed b a 10:30 a.m. Divine Liturgy in St. John Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Ronald P. Larko as celebrant.
Interment follows in St. John the Baptist Byzantine Cemetery, Hopwood.
Parastas Service will be Wednesday at 8 p.m.
Military Honors will be accorded by AMVETS Post 103, Hopwood.
