By Heraldstandard.Com 1 min read

State Auditor General Jack Wagner said that audits of two Fayette County Volunteer Firefighter Relief Associations found both association’s to be in compliance with state law and regulations.

Audits were conducted for the 2008 fiscal years for the Farmington and Connellsville relief associations.

“We commend the relief associations’ management in these Fayette County VFRAs for complying with all applicable state laws, contracts, bylaws and administrative procedures,” Wagner stated in a press release.

“The proper management of funds ensures that they will continue to support local volunteer firefighters who bravely put themselves at risk to help protect their neighbors’ health and property.”

VFRAs are nonprofit organizations established to afford financial protection for volunteer firefighters who suffer misfortune as a result of their service to the fire department. They are funded by a 2-percent state tax levied on all fire insurance.
