Area events planned for National Day of Prayer
A series of area events planned for National Day of Prayer on Thursday include:
Brownsville
Christ Church, Anglican, located at 319 Church St., will be the site for a prayer gathering at 7 p.m., held on behalf of the Brownsville Area Ministerial Association. The Rev. Keith Pozzuto, pastor, said there will be prayers, preaching and songs of worship.
Connellsville
An observance will be held at Lions Square, located on West Crawford Avenue, at noon, sponsored by the Connellsville Area Ministerial Association. The Rev. Matt Goldsberry, a member of the association and pastor of Calvary Assembly of God, said several ministers will lead prayers and there will be special music, including Yvonne Goldsberry singing “God Bless America.”
Masontown
Masontown United Methodist Church, located at the corner of Main Street and West Cross Avenue, will have a prayer service at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Mary Jane Fullerton, pastor, speaking.
Uniontown
The 19th annual National Day of Prayer Breakfast in Uniontown will be held from 7 to 8 a.m. at the Salvation Army, located at 32 W. Fayette St. The event is being sponsored by the Uniontown Area Clergy Association. Speakers will include Don Nixon of Restoring America. There is a $3 charge for a light breakfast. Marshall Park on Jefferson Avenue will be the site for a prayer gathering sponsored by Solid Rock Ministry-Faith-Hope-Love. The Rev. Buzz Hall, pastor, said the event will begin at 10 a.m. and will continue throughout the day with gospel music, ministers leading prayer and free food. It is the eighth year for the event.
Gen. George C. Marshall Memorial Plaza, located at Five Corners, will be the site for a prayer gathering at 4:30 p.m., sponsored by Liberty Baptist Church in North Union Township. The Rev. Ewing Marietta, pastor, said there will be music supplied the church’s choir, two church musicians and two soloists, as well as the John Wyrick Band. There will be speakers, including the Fayette County commissioners, and ministers, including Marietta, will lead prayer.
