Man charged in attempted rape in Wharton Township

State police said a Wharton Township man is behind bars after he tried to rape a woman at her residence on the property of Nemacolin Woodlands Resort on Friday.

Trooper Heather L. Clem said Kevin St. Aubin Bowen, 36, was charged before Magisterial District Judge Michael M. Metros with criminal attempt rape, simple assault, criminal trespassing and harassment.

Clem said the incident occurred shortly before 2 p.m. at an apartment on Success Drive at the resort when Bowen attempted to sexually assault a 43-year-old woman.

Clem said both the victim and Bowen are resort employees.

She did not disclose further details of the incident.

HeraldStandard.com does not identify the victims of alleged sexual assault.

He was placed in Fayette County Prison on 10 percent of $50,000 straight cash bond following his arraignment.

Bowen faces a preliminary hearing at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Wendy D. Dennis.
