A North Versailles man is behind bars after police said he assaulted a corrections officer at the Fayette County Prison on Monday.

Uniontown police Officer Frederick Kampert said Daaron Anthony Shears, 21, was charged before Magisterial District Judge Michael M. Metros with aggravated assault by a prisoner, aggravated assault, simple assault, terroristic threats and harassment.

Kampert said Officer Jessie Outland was instructing Shears to remove his mattress from the bars of his cell so she could see him when he threw a cup of urine on her.

Outland told police that Shears was dipping the cup into the toilet to throw more urine at her when other officers arrived and Shears stopped his actions.

Kampert said that while he was investigating the incident and talking to Outland, Shears mocked her and laughed at her reaction to the incident.

Kampert also said that Shears said, “I should have snapped her neck,” and other threatening statements about Outland during the investigation.

Shears was placed in Fayette County Prison on $25,000 straight cash bond following his arraignment.

He will face a preliminary hearing at a later date before Metros.
