Donations rise for Give-A-Christmas
Herald-Standard readers sent $555.94 to Give-A-Christmas in their latest donations, raising the total to $10,999.94.
Contributions came from Uniontown, Smithfield, Hopwood, Connellsville, Perryopolis, Fairbank, East Millsboroo, Newell and Masontown.
“Just six cents shy of $11,000! That’s so great,” said Sparkle, the Christmas star. “I’m sure we are going to make our goal of raising $40,000 for the Salvation Army by Dec. 21. But remember, we only have two weeks left in the campaign, and we still have a long way to go.”
Readers also sent nice notes with their donations.
“We, the members of the Hopwood AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary, would like to express our sincere thanks for your generosity that you share with the local communities in time of need. Your devotion of helping people is most appreciated.”
“God bless everyone. Merry Christmas from Juniata United Methodist Church.” The church directed its donation to the Connellsville area.
“Dear Sparkle, Hope this helps you reach your goal. God bless all of you,” wrote Virginia Allman and family from Uniontown.
“Dear Sparkle, Thank you again this year for helping those in need,” wrote Bernard and Marsha Page of Perryopolis, who donated in memory of Dorothy Livingston, Robert Page and Hazel Page.
“Merry Christmas. Hope you reach your goal,” wrote the Christ United Methodist Women of Uniontown.
“Happy to give to Sparkle,” wrote Nancy Shanaberger of Uniontown.
“And remember, Jesus is the reason for the season,” wrote Rose Ann Valeri and family of Masontown, in memory of John Valeri Sr., John Valeri Jr. and Timothy J. Valeri.

Donations will continue to be received until noon Dec. 21. The final amount will be reported in the Christmas Eve edition of the Herald-Standard.
Donations for the campaign can be mailed to Give-A-Christmas, P.O. Box 1147, Uniontown, PA 15401, or brought to the Herald-Standard office in Uniontown during business hours. Sparkle donation cans have also been placed in numerous store locations in the Herald-Standard.
