Georges Twp. woman charged with injuring her 14-month-old son
GEORGES TWP. – State police arrested a Georges Township woman accused of seriously injuring her 14-month-old son.
Police said Jessica Elizabeth Rhodes, 19, of Jarrett’s Mobile Home Park, was charged on Wednesday with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and endangering the welfare of a child.
Police said Rhodes became frustrated with her son when he would not stop crying on Saturday. Police said she picked the child up and began to shake him.
Police said as a result of the shaking, the child sustained critical injuries to his brain and is being treated in the pediatric intensive care unit at Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Police said Rhodes was arraigned and taken to Fayette County Prison. Rhodes was able to post bond of $10,000.
