Southwest Regional police said the brother of a Newell man wanted on charges he had explosives and other prohibited weapons inside his home is now facing his own set of charges.

Police Chief John D. Hartman said Mark Wilson, 56, of 100 Miller St., Newell, is facing charges for hindering apprehension and prosecution and obstruction of justice after police allege he tried to warn his brother not to come home after police searched Jeffrey Wilson’s home Nov. 26.

Hartman said a routine search warrant conducted at Jeffrey Wilson’s residence at 102 Miller St. uncovered a cache of explosive materials and prohibited weapons and resulted in multiple charges being filed against him including possessing weapons of mass destruction and risking a catastrophe.

Hartman said the initial warrant was issued to search Jeffrey Wilson’s residence after police suspected several stolen firearms were inside the home.
