GANS — An unidentified Uniontown man was pronounced dead Saturday evening following an accident on Pennsylvania Turnpike 43 near the Pennsylvania and West Virginia state border.

Fayette County Deputy Coroner Robert Furin pronounced the man dead at the scene at 7:15 p.m.

The accident occurred about 5:30 p.m. and slowed traffic in northbound lanes.

State Trooper Brian Depue of the New Stanton station said the man was driving a Chrysler Sebring and had just crossed into Pennsylvania when the accident occurred.

No information was available as to whether the wet roadway played any role in the cause of the accident, but Depue said that the man was traveling at a high rate of speed and the car rolled over several times before coming to a rest.

No other information was available at press time.

In addition to police and Furin, Roger Victor, Fayette County Coroner’s Office chief investigator, turnpike officials and the Point Marion Volunteer Fire Co. responded to the accident.
