A Connellsville man is behind bars after police allege he assaulted his teenage son and choked him until he was unconscious at a location in Dunbar Township.

State police Trooper Jason Hatalsky said Troy Alan Shoemaker, 43, 213 Deerfield Road was charged before Magisterial District Judge Joseph M. George Jr. with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct following the incident on Front Street Thursday evening.

Hatalsky said that Shoemaker got into an altercation with his son, whom police did not identify, and that during the argument, Shoemaker punched the teen in the face, knocking him to the ground.
