Erma Mae Chew, 82 of Monongahela (Forward Twp.), died Monday, February 13, 2012 in Monongahela-Valley Hospital. Born April 4, 1929 in Star Junction, she was the daughter of the late Michael A. and Margaret L. (Hart) Erler.

A homemaker for most of her life, Erma worked as a florist for several years after her husband’s death in various flower shops around the valley. She was a member of the Ella Hollow Bible Church in Forward Twp. and enjoyed crocheting and making crafts.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law: Floyd C. Jr. and Kathy Chew and Dennis M. and Marsha Chew of Monongahela; daughter Janis E. Chew of Belle Vernon; two brothers: Melvin Erler of Perryopolis and Kenneth Erler of Goodyear, Ariz.; three grandchildren: Amy and husband David Kirby, Floyd C. III and wife Terra Chew and Jennifer and husband Daniel Davis; nine great grand-children: Meghan, Morgan and Matthew Kirby, Makayla, Chassie, Chase and Chanse Chew, Ashley Chew and Jacob Davis and her grand dog, Duncan.

Preceding her in death were her husband Floyd C. Chew Sr. who died August 15, 1991, her son Richard A. Chew who died June 6, 1966 and a great granddaughter Danielle Elaine Kathleen Davis who died July 11, 2006. Friends will be received at the MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess Street, Monon-gahela (724-258-6767), marshallmarrafuneralhome.com from 2 to 9 p.m. today (Wednesday). Funeral services and interment will be private and held in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth.
