Laurel Highlands AFSCME contract detailed
The Laurel Highlands school board Thursday approved a four-year contract with district employees represented by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME).
According to Superintendent Jesse Wallace the contract covers 64 custodians, cafeteria workers and maintenance personnel.
Starting salaries increased between eight cents an hour and 65 cents an hour for the various jobs covered by the contract.
The contract also calls for pay raises of 20 cents an hour in the 2012-13 school year and in the 2013-14 school year, the final year of the contract.
