John L. Kravets, age 85, of Masontown, Pa., passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Mon Valley Hospital in Monongahela, Pa.

He was born in Masontown, Pa., on January 18, 1926 the son of Andrew J. Kravets and Mary (Dulik) Kravets.

John was a veteran of World War II who served in the United States Marine Corps.

He was owner and operator of the John L. Kravets Funeral Home in Monessen, Pa.

He was a Coal Analyst at Mon View Testing, Masontown

John was a lifetime member of the Masontown Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4584.

He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Dorothy M. (Kavlick) Kravets; sisters: A g n e s Krueger, M a r y Andraska, Margaret Vish; and a brother, Edward G. Kravets.

Left to cherish his memory are children: Jonas Kravets of Bellefonte, Pa., Maribeth Kravets of Monessen, Pa., Damian Kravets of Bloomfield, Pa., Mark Kravets, Monessen, Terri (Joe) Smith, Donora, Pa., Lance (Kathi) Kravets of Monessen and Dorthea (Ben) Gush; grandchildren: E l i s e, B r i t t a n y, Asa, Chelsey, Jonathan Kravets and Krista Gush; great granddaughter, Angel Harrold; and a brother, Dr. Thomas ‘Tim’ Kravets (Gloria), Winter Springs, Fla.

Friends will be received in the JOHN S. MAYKUTH JR. FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church and 7 River Avenue, Masontown, Pa., on Tuesday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, January 11, 2011 until 9:30 a.m. when a Prayer Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Perpetual Help, St. Mary, Leckrone, Pa. with Rev. Father John M. Butler as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Leckrone.

Parish Wake Service will be held in the Funeral Home on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
