Large sinkhole prompts partial road closure

A large sinkhole along Bessemer Road in German Township prompted the closure of part of the road Monday.

According to German Township Supervisor Dan Shimshock, the sinkhole developed near the Pal’s Club in Masontown. Shimshock said crews from the state Department of Environmental Protection will be on site Wednesday morning to assess and repair the sinkhole.
