Police investigating another robbery of Connellsville convenience store
CONNELLSVILLE — Connnellsville police are investigating the second robbery of a convenience store in less than a month.
According to Capt. Steven Shaffer, a man entered the Reddy Sunoco A-Plus station at 1:26 a.m. Tuesday and demanded money from the cashier before fleeing on foot.
Police did not release a description of the robber.
The store at 225 Memorial Blvd. was robbed on Feb. 4 and a man was beaten during the incident.
Francis Straughters Jr., 28, and Edith Porterfield, 34, both of 304 E. Green St., Connellsville, were charged by police in the earlier incident and are scheduled to appear today before Magisterial District Judge Ronald Haggery Jr.
Both are charged with criminal conspiracy, robbery, aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment, terroristic threats, theft, receiving stolen property and disorderly conduct.
Police said that when officers arrived at the store, they found that Zane Long, 65, had been beaten during the robbery.
Straughters stole more than $200 in cash and multiple packs of cigarettes from the store while Porterfield waited in a nearby car, according to police.
After reviewing a surveillance camera video, police identified Porterfield, who had earlier entered the store.
During the execution of a search warrant at their residence, police found bloody clothing.
The two were later apprehended and charged in connection with the incident.
Shaffer, meanwhile, said anyone with information about the recent robbery is asked to call the police department at 724-628-2501, extension 110.
