Searights man to stand trial in alleged child abuse

A Searights man will stand trial for allegedly beating a 5-year-old child with a spoon in the Village of Searights in November.

State police Trooper John Krause said Ronald E. Armel, 24, of 207 Village of Searights was charged before Magisterial District Judge Joseph M. George Jr. with simple assault, endangering the welfare of children and harassment following several alleged assaults in mid-November.

George held all charges against Armel for Fayette County Court following a preliminary hearing Wednesday.
