Greensburg bishop announces new clergy appointments

Bishop Lawrence E. Brandt of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Greensburg recently announced clergy appointments that include several Fayette County natives and churches.

They will become effective Thursday.

The following Fayette County churches are receiving new pastors:

n The Rev. James D. Tringhese will become pastor of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Uniontown. A native of Uniontown, Tringhese was ordained in 1974 and is coming to Uniontown after serving as pastor of St. Regis Parish in Trafford. He replaces the Rev. Michael J. Crookston, an Irwin native, who is the new pastor of The Epiphany of Our Lord Parish in Monessen.

n The Rev. Anthony W. Ditto becomes pastor of St. John the Baptist Parish in Perryopolis and administrator of St. Hedwig Parish in Smock. A native of Connellsville, Ditto was ordained n 1990 and comes to Perryopolis after serving as pastor of St. Raymond of the Mountains Parish and administrator in Donegal and administrator of St. Boniface Parish in Latrobe.

Ditto replaces the Rev. Robert T. Lubic, who becomes pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish in Connellsville and administrator of St. John the Evangelist Parish and St. Rita Parish, both in Connellsville, while continuing as chaplain and instructor of religion at Geibel Catholic Junior-Senior High School in Connellsville. A native of Connellsville, Lubic was ordained in 1996. He replaces the Rev. Joseph Bonafed, a native of Monessen, who is the new pastor of St. John Baptist de La Salle Parish, Delmont, and administrator of St. Mary Parish, Export.

Other Fayette County natives receiving new assignments include:

n The Rev. Thaddeus J. Kaczmarek, a Uniontown native who is replacing Ditto as pastor of St. Raymond and administrator of St. Boniface. Kaczmarek was ordained in 1971 and has been serving as pastor of Mother of Sorrows Parish in Murrysville.

n The Rev. Douglas E. Dorula, a Uniontown native, is receiving his first appointment as pastor by becoming the new pastor of St. Patrick Parish in Brady’s Bend. He was ordained in 2002 and has been serving as parochial vicar pro tem at Mount St. Peter Parish in New Kensington.

n The Rev. Alan W. Grote, a Uniontown native, will serve as parochial vicar for St. Margaret Mary Parish in Lower Burrell and all three parishes in New Kensington: Mount St. Peter, St. Joseph and St. Mary of Czestochowa. He was ordained in 1982 and has been serving as parochial vicar in New Kingston-Lower Burrell since 2005.

n The Rev. William J. Lechnar, a native of Uniontown, is the new pastor of Mother of Sorrows Parish in Murrysville. He was ordained in 1997 and has been serving as pastor of St. Thomas More University Parish in Indiana. Lechnar continues as director for the office for planning and director of diocesan pilgrimages.

n The Rev. David J. Nazimek, a native of Republic, is the new pastor of St. Regis Parish in Trafford. Ordained in 1993, he has been serving as pastor of The Epiphany of Our Lord Parish in Monessen and previously served as pastor of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Fairchance.

n The Rev. Michael P. Sikon, an Everson native, is the new pastor of St. Thomas More University Parish in Indiana and will continue to serve as director of the Office of Worship and Office of Clergy Formation for the diocese. Ordained in 1996, he has been serving as pastor of St. John Baptist de La Salle Parish in Delmont and administrator of St. Mary Parish in Export.

In addition, the Rev. Daniel L. Blout, a native of Masontown, is the new chaplain of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. He was ordained in 1986 and has been pastor of St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Kittanning and administrator of St. Mary Parish in Yatesboro, since 2008. His previous assignments included serving as president of Geibel High School.
